About NHCP

What is the NHCP?

The Northern Healthy Communities Partnership (NHCP) is a network of organizations working to improve the health of people in northern Saskatchewan by influencing the conditions in which they live, learn, work and play. Through NHCP, professionals working with organizations from across the region and the province develop connections, motivation and specialized tools to help them become more effective in their everyday work. Working together and with communities, NHCP partners are better able to influence and improve the health of our population.

What does the NHCP do?

The NHCP works on population health promotion projects that can be implemented in northern Saskatchewan communities by the NHCP partners and their organizations. The projects are in the areas of Healthy Eating, Active Living, Substance Use and Abuse and Mental Well Being.

How does the NHCP choose their projects?

NHCP projects are brought to the table by a member and are decided upon by the group. NHCP projects are: a) Northwide in scope; b) are upstream prevention approaches; c) fit in the areas of Healthy Eating, Active Living, Substance Use and Abuse and Mental Well Being and d) are based on research evidence.
